Obere Orangerie
Weilburg

Together with the violist Liisa Randalu, we take our audience with us into the French nature: works by Ravel and Debussy can be heard, which let the listener drift musically through forests and waters on the trail of Impressionism.

New music video

The protection of the nature, the environment and the climate is important to us. We have hereby joined forces with video artist Elina Oikari and are happy to present the outcome in a short film.

What is our relationship to the nature that surrounds us? How are we influencing it? And above all, how does it in turn influence our art?

"QUEENS DUO took my breath away."

Harp Column

The QUEENS DUO - consisting of harpist Hanna Rabe and flutist Verena Beatrix Schulte - is considered one of the leading duos in its casts. With a unique combination of creativity and tradition, the young ensemble skillfully aims to change the traditional image of a flute-harp duo and opens the ears to new, as well as unexplored levels in music.

Already with their debut CD “The Art of Imagination”, released by the label TYXart, the two musicians demonstrated their sense for intelligent and extraordinary program design. As part of their current CD “Perception”, released in 2020 by GENUIN Classics, they go one step further playing their own arrangements of selected works for flute and harp and proving to be artists who consistently succeed in thinking beyond the limits of their instruments.

"A total work of art"

The award-winning QUEENS DUO is winner of the international chamber music competition “Citta di Chieri”, named “Artist of the Year 2014” of the Marienmünster Cultural Foundation, scholarship holder of the PE Funding Mannheim and winner of the “Young Art 2014” award from the Volksbank.

Since the Westdeutsche Rundfunk became aware of the young artists as part of its “Open Auditions” concert series in 2014, the duo has worked regularly with the broadcaster, has been a guest in concert series and interviews, and accepted the invitation in 2017 to perform Mozart's double concerto for flute, harp and orchestra together with the WDR Funkhaus Orchestra.

" With its direct effect on emotions, music reaches us in a way that the spoken word can sometimes not express.

Sonic images open up spaces of imagination, inspire our imagination and resonate with our inner feelings."

Perception

"It is not what you look at that matters, it's what you see."

Henry David Thoreau

The mythical emotional worlds of Romanticism and the flowing imagery of Impressionism unite on the new CD by the award-winning QUEENS DUO, creating an enchanting world of sound. The duo develops an expressiveness full of magic and sheer virtuosity with arrangements that are partly their own.

With these delicately interpreted snapshots between dream and reality, the two young musicians create surprises and skilfully put the traditional image of a flute-harp duo in a new light.
