"Culture is good for Leer"
Evangelisch-reformierte Kirche zu Loga, Leer
Following the idea that "a duo can be an orchestra" we push the color spectrum of our instruments to the limit. Chamber music gems as well as arrangements of well-known symphonic works such as Debussy's "Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faun" and Rimsky-Korsakov's "Scheherazade" will be impressively re-experiencable.
Experience a special kind of pre-Christmas concert with evening with us.
New music video
The protection of the nature, the environment and the climate is important to us. We have hereby joined forces with video artist Elina Oikari and are happy to present the outcome in a short film.
What is our relationship to the nature that surrounds us? How are we influencing it? And above all, how does it in turn influence our art?

"a extraordinary listening experience"
"QUEENS DUO took my breath away."
The QUEENS DUO - consisting of harpist Hanna Rabe and flutist Verena Beatrix Schulte - is considered one of the leading duos in its casts. With a unique combination of creativity and tradition, the young ensemble skillfully aims to change the traditional image of a flute-harp duo and opens the ears to new, as well as unexplored levels in music.
Already with their debut CD “The Art of Imagination”, released by the label TYXart, the two musicians demonstrated their sense for intelligent and extraordinary program design. As part of their current CD “Perception”, released in 2020 by GENUIN Classics, they go one step further playing their own arrangements of selected works for flute and harp and proving to be artists who consistently succeed in thinking beyond the limits of their instruments.
"Of mesmerizing beauty"
"A total work of art"
The award-winning QUEENS DUO is winner of the international chamber music competition “Citta di Chieri”, named “Artist of the Year 2014” of the Marienmünster Cultural Foundation, scholarship holder of the PE Funding Mannheim and winner of the “Young Art 2014” award from the Volksbank.
Since the Westdeutsche Rundfunk became aware of the young artists as part of its “Open Auditions” concert series in 2014, the duo has worked regularly with the broadcaster, has been a guest in concert series and interviews, and accepted the invitation in 2017 to perform Mozart's double concerto for flute, harp and orchestra together with the WDR Funkhaus Orchestra.
" With its direct effect on emotions, music reaches us in a way that the spoken word can sometimes not express.
Sonic images open up spaces of imagination, inspire our imagination and resonate with our inner feelings."
The harpist Hanna Rabe was born in Bielefeld in 1988. In 2016 she was awarded the postgraduate concert exam with distinction at Hochschule für Musik Detmold, where she studied with Prof. Godelieve Schrama. Additional studies led her to the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London and to Paris, where she studied under the French harpist Isabelle Perrin at the “École Normale de Musique de Paris”.
In 2012, Hanna Rabe won the competition of the Märkische Kulturkonferenz, receiving not only the jury rating, but also that of the audience.
The international artist has been invited to renowned festivals – both as orchestra musician and as chamber musician –, such as the Aspen Music Festival (USA), the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival and the Salzburg Festival.
VERENA BEATRIX SCHULTE
The flutist Verena Beatrix Schulte was born in Lemgo in 1989. Already at the age of 16, she debuted as soloist with the Brandenburg State Orchestra. Her studies led her to Professor Janos Balint at the University of Music Detmold, to the Royal Academy of Music in London as well as to Professor Michael Martin Kofler to the Mozarteum Salzburg. She earned device orchestral experiences working with renowned conductors such as Sir Simon Rattle, Sir Roger Norrington, Jeffrey Tate and Wladimir Jurowski. She played with famous orchestras as the orchestra of Komische Oper Berlin, the Stuttgarter Philharmoniker, the Staatstheater Kassel, the Staatsoper Hannover, the Gärtnerplatztheater München, the Orchestra of the Staatsoper Stuttgart and the NDR Radiophilharmonie Hannover.
"It is not what you look at that matters, it's what you see."
Henry David Thoreau
The mythical emotional worlds of Romanticism and the flowing imagery of Impressionism unite on the new CD by the award-winning QUEENS DUO, creating an enchanting world of sound. The duo develops an expressiveness full of magic and sheer virtuosity with arrangements that are partly their own.
With these delicately interpreted snapshots between dream and reality, the two young musicians create surprises and skilfully put the traditional image of a flute-harp duo in a new light.
